Welcome to homies. We built homies to make shared living fairer, and that starts with being straight about your data. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and what you control when you use the homies mobile app and joinhomies.app (together, the "Service").

1. Information we collect

1.1 Information you give us

• Account details — your name and email address when you sign up (including via Sign in with Apple or Google).
• House data — the houses you create or join, expenses, chores, balances, feed posts, and messages you enter.
• Waitlist — if you join our waitlist, your email address.

1.2 Information collected automatically

• Usage & device data — basic analytics about how the app is used and crash diagnostics.
• Push token — a device identifier used only to deliver notifications you've opted into.

2. How we use your information

• To provide the core Service — splitting expenses, tracking chores, and syncing your house in real time.
• To power homies+ AI features (mediation, receipt scanning, summaries) when you choose to use them.
• To send notifications you've enabled (a chore is due, you owe money, an invite was accepted).
• To improve reliability and fix bugs through aggregate analytics and error reporting.

3. AI features

When you use homie.ai, the relevant house context (members, balances, chores, recent activity) is sent to our AI provider to generate a response. AI calls are made server-side through our backend — your data is never sent to the AI provider directly from your device, and we do not sell your data.

4. Service providers we share with

We share data only with the providers needed to run homies, each under their own terms:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and storage.
• RevenueCat — subscription management for homies+.
• OneSignal — push notification delivery.
• Anthropic — the AI model behind homie.ai.
• PostHog & Sentry — product analytics and crash reporting.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Your house, your roommates

homies is collaborative. Expenses, chores, balances, and feed posts you create are visible to other members of your house. Only share a house with people you trust.

6. Data retention & deletion

We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, which removes your personal profile data. Some shared records (like an expense others were part of) may persist for the house's history in anonymized form.

7. Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. To make a request, contact us at privacy@joinhomies.app.

8. Children

homies is intended for users 17 and older and is not directed at children under 13.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the revised version here with a new "Last updated" date.
